This is for boys and girls in grades 4th-6th. The goal is to get enough interest for an indoor soccer team in order to compete in tournaments. There will be tryouts for the team(s) but for these practices all are welcome. Girls can play in boy's tournaments but boys cannot play in girl's. If we have enough girls interested then we will form our own team for them.
Players are required to have shin guards and Sneakers or indoor turf shoes. No cleats, Crocs or sandals. I will try to remember to bring extra shin guards with me.
We will warm up for the first 15 minutes with some running and individual ball control drills. Then we will practice 2-3 group drills before breaking up into teams for a scrimmage. Scrimmages will be used for teaching the rules of indoor soccer, positioning, and strategies.
Players are required to be:
Respectful of all coaches, players, and volunteers
Respectful of the equipment and gym space
Coachable - if a player chooses to not pay attention, be a distraction to themselves or others, or does not listen to instruction they will be asked to sit out
Additional practices will be provided for those who make the team. These
will be at Webster Bible or Palmyra Community Center. Dates and times
are TBD. We will enter 4 tournaments - Gananda, Pal-Mac, Wayne, and
Newark - and others if there is interest. Tournaments are held on
Saturdays and Sundays in the late winter - early spring (March-April).
